The Continuous friction tester (CFT) is used to measure the surface friction coefficient of highway or runway of airport.


Constructions
The whole system comprised the measuring unit, 3-wheel walking unit, road surface temperature sensor and non-contact environmental temperature sensor, specialized test software, and water-spray system and wheel-lift system can be optional equipped. The 3-wheel trailer is connected to the front tractor through a tow hook to quickly test the road friction coefficient.

Working principle
The included angle between CFT wheel and the driving direction is of 7.5°,
and when driving on a wet road at a certain speed, the lateral friction force
on the test wheel is compared with the load acting on the test wheel,
the ratio is called as the lateral force coefficient, and this method is called as the   
deflection wheel trailer method.

Its advantage is it does not hinder the traffic during the measurement, and
can be continuously and quickly measured. High-grade highways often uses the CFT
to evaluate the anti-skid performance of the road surface.

Software features & functions
The JT-CFT03 continuous road friction coefficient tester software fetures easy to operate, supports touch screen operation, multi-language selection; there are different version of software per different customer test requirements, the software can be used in most of the existing Windows operation systems;

The notebook computer uses the Ethernet interface for data transmission; the computer collects and displays various data and graphics in real time. The following information is displayed on the computer screen in real time, including: vehicle speed, Test distance, friction coefficient value, SFC conversion value, air temperature and road temperature; the curve graph software of friction coefficient VS distance;

With station distance correction function to correct the actual test distance to the station distance; the data report provides the average value, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation of the friction coefficient of the road section;

Can directly set the correlation equation and formula established between the friction coefficient value and SFC, and can directly list the friction coefficient value of this CFT and the converted SCRIM friction coefficient value SFC in the report;
 
With speed correction function, which meets the requirements of JTGE60-2008 standard, and can correct the friction coefficient values measured under other speeds to the equivalent SFC value under the standard speed of 50km/h;

With temperature correction function, the friction coefficient value measured under the road temperature of 8~60°C can be corrected to the equivalent SFC value at the standard temperature of 20°C.
